A fresher is someone who has just graduated fresh from college. So what does it take to effectively compete with those who have been in the job market for a while? Some of the tips you should keep in mind include:
Do not be intimidated due to your lack of experience. Realize that you stand a chance of getting the job just as anyone else who has been in the job market for a while.
Highlight your academic skills and qualifications. Emphasize on the training programs that you have achieved and show that even if it is theoretical knowledge, you still have some degree of expertise. You do not have to state all your academic qualifications; just highlight your highest academic qualifications and ones relevant to the job.
You should also emphasize your character traits. For instance you can state that you have initiative, a great leader and team player or have ability to work under pressure.
If you have any technological skills, it would be advisable to include them. For instance any software skills or computer knowledge that you have. Even if it is a self taught skill that you have acquired such as web design.
Show in your resume that you are ready to undertake any training that the organization may be giving. Also, emphasize that you are a fast leaner.
Remember to spell check your resume for any grammatical errors and proper punctuation. Also, use simple English and be direct, simple and clear. Avoid use of graphics, funny fonts and multiple colors.
